Signers of the Declaration of Independence:
These biographies come from the Fourth Edition of the book "Lives of The Signers to the
Declaration of Independence." It was written by Rev. Charles A. Goodrich and published in
1834. In fact, at the time (1829) the first edition of this book was published, one signer,
Charles Carroll of Carrollton, was still alive.
Charles Carroll of Carrollton
Richard Henry Lee
Thomas Nelson, Jr.
Francis Lightfoot Lee
Thomas Lynch, Jr.
Biographies for all 56 signers will eventually be added here.
These biographies include a great deal of information, some of which you won't find in
today's text books. We hope that you enjoy this resource, and that it is helpful in better
understanding this rare group of men who supported The Declaration, and mutually
pledged to each other their Lives, Fortunes, and sacred Honor.
